Balsinger
Shelley Cardiel sent in this photo and says, "I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me."
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Lottie CALLEN which was taken at the F. A. Coyle Studio in Monticello, Iowa. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Lottie appearing to be in her teens at the time. It actually appears more like an illustration over a photograph. In addition to her name, someone (note is signed "Valle") has written the following message "I think this is Lottie CALLEN Dad's favorite cousin. She was a BALSINGER, the only one who ever lived in Iowa, or her sister Nora B" on the back of the photograph.

Thanks to the help of a BALSINGER Family researcher I was able to determine that the girls were the daughters of Samuel BALSINGER and Emily SHUMAKER.

Nora Estelle BALSINGER was b. 20 Sept 1875 and d. 27 Sept 1964, she married Rev. John Ellsworth KANAAR on 17 Aug 1898 (son of Aaron KANARR and Susan RUFFNER) b. 28 Apr 1872 in Deckerspoint, PA and d. 18 Mar 1966 in Brookville, PA). In 1935 the couple was living in Boise, ID. Nora & John had six children, Carrie Alverda KANAAR b. 1899; Lois Ruth KANAAR b. 1901 in Allyn, WA; Prescott Stevens KANAAR b. 1904 in Allens Mills, PA; Worthy Clipman KANAAR b. 1908 in Bisbee, AZ; Mary Olive KANAAR b. 1912 in Roswell, ID; and John Bowler KANAAR b. 1914 in Middleton, ID.
