| JOHN F. KOOP, dealer in boots and shoes, Monticello; is a native of Germany and was born in Hanover November 20, 1829; he grew up to manhood and learned his trade there and emigrated to America in October, 1853; lived in Cincinnati two years and came to Dubuque in 1855; was engaged in business there until he came to Jones Co. and located in Monticello September 13, 1870, and since then he has been engaged in business here and has built up a good trade. He married Fredrika Gruben March 27, 1861; she was born in Germany and came to America when very young; they have two children—Frederick W. and Clara.
